Firefighters backed up by multiple firefighting aircraft held a fire burning near White Salmon on Tuesday afternoon to 15 acres.
The state Department of Natural Resources sent firefighters, including two tanker planes, to the fire around 2:45 p.m. The fire, dubbed the Tunnel Fire, burned in timber near homes, but did not damage any structures.
Local and state crews held the fire to 15 acres, having it under control by sometime after 5 p.m.
