Vancouver Mavericks advance at state Legion tournament

Vancouver Cardinals fall into loser-out bracket games

The Vancouver Mavericks improved to 2-0 at the Washington AAA American Legion state baseball tournament with an 11-6 win over Wilder Baseball of Port Angeles on Sunday in Centralia.

Jordan Donohoe was 2 for 4 with a home run and two RBI, Josh Mansur was 2 for 5 with a double, triple and RBI, Andrew Selden had a pair of doubles and an RBI, and Garret Moen had four RBI from the lead-off spot.

The Mavericks will face Lakeside Recovery of Bellevue at 7 p.m. Monday at Wheeler Field in Centralia. This game will feature the two remaining undefeated teams on this side of the 16-team double-elimination bracket.

In the bracket being played at W.F. West in Chehalis, the Vancouver Cardinals lost to Selah Pepsi Pak 2-0 on Sunday.

Tanner Jacques was 1 for 3 and Noah Guyette was 2 for 2 for the Cardinals’ only hits.

The Cardinals (1-1) face the Kennewick Outlaws at 4 p.m. Monday at W.F. West in an elimination game.
