Northwest — Erin Adams and Dora Hernandez were named recipients of this year’s Directors of Volunteer Programs Association of Southwest Washington Anne Turner Awards. Adams is the association’s secretary, and was honored for her volunteer work with various agencies. In college, she volunteered with the Gateways for Incarcerated Youth. She also worked with the VISTA Team, Open House Ministries’ Compassion Vancouver events, the AmeriCorps Program and Volunteer Connections’ Human Services Council. Hernandez started work for Clark County as a seasonal employee in February 2017 and was hired full time in September for the county’s volunteer program assistant position. In her time with the county, she developed two volunteer programs with the city of Vancouver: the Vancouver Ivy Near Elimination Squad (VINE Squad) and VolunTOUR. Volunteer hours have also increased by 2,300 hours from 2016.
