Local competitors place in Miss Washington contest

Clark County — Two locals placed in the Miss Washington competition, which took place June 29 and 30 in Burien. Danamarie McNicholl-Carter of Spokane took home the crown. Miss Rainier Abigail Kondel, a Brigham Young University junior, was named first runner-up in the competition. Her parents, Karrie and Jeff Kondel, live in Hockinson. Her platform was “Be Smart Don’t Start, Drug & Alcohol Awareness and Prevention,” and she received a $2,500 scholarship, $24,000 Marian University scholarship, $40,000 St. Norbert College scholarship and $4,000 Washington Technical Institute scholarship. Miss Clark County Kallie Hutchinson, daughter of Alice Hutchinson of Vancouver, is a New York University freshman. She was named second runner-up and her platform was “#ThisisMe, Building Positive Self-Image.” She received a $2,000 scholarship, $24,000 Marian University scholarship, $40,000 St. Norbert College scholarship and $3,000 Washington Technical Institute scholarship.
