M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust hired Kim Newman, a biology and technology teacher at Camas High School, as its new program director. The nonprofit organization, based in Vancouver at 703 Broadway, Suite 710, brought her on board after a national search. Newman previously worked with Murdock Trust’s Partners in Science program. She graduated from Stanford University and received a master’s degree from George Fox University. M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust provides grants to organizations in Washington and Oregon, as well as Alaska, Idaho and Montana.
Linde Carroll, a consultant at the investment management firm Sustainable Wealth Management, 652 Officers Row in Vancouver, has been certified by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards. The certification marks those who have “met the rigorous experience and ethical requirements of the CFP Board, have successfully completed financial planning course work and have passed the CFP Certification Examination,” according to a news release. Carroll has worked at Sustainable Wealth Management since 2010 and works with clients and families on financial and retirement goals. Additionally, Sustainable Wealth Management hired Victoria Clark in the role of client services and office management. She has a bachelor’s degree in religion from Whitworth University. Previously, Clark worked in human resources. The firm is in the process of expanding and will relocate next month.
Kim Armstrong was promoted to the rank of lieutenant at Battle Ground Police Department, making her the first female lieutenant and first officer to rise to the rank of lieutenant within the department. Having worked in law enforcement for 20 years, she previously worked with the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department and the Spokane Police Department. She was hired at Battle Ground Police Department in 2004 and became the first female sergeant in the history of the department when she was promoted in 2010. She was named Battle Ground Police Officer of the Year in 2014 and was awarded Meritorious Service and Commendation medals. She was sworn in by Police Chief Bob Richardson at a July 9 ceremony.
Dominique Merriweather was hired as vice president and commercial loan officer on Riverview Community Bank’s commercial lending team. He has 17 years of experience in financing commercial loans. He received a bachelor’s degree from Concordia University, a master’s degree from Portland State University and also attended West Coast Bankers College and Pacific Coast Banking School. Merriweather is involved with local organizations such as Partners in Careers and the Washington State University Vancouver’s Diversity Advisory Board.
