In an effort to combat childhood obesity and encourage kids to set a goal, train for that goal and cross the finish line, WHY Racing Events is offering kids ages 17 and younger to race for free at the inaugural Columbia River Sunset 5K/10K on Friday, Aug. 17.

World’s largest golf outing
Tri-Mountain Golf Course in Ridgefield is taking part in the World’s Largest Golf Outing on Monday, Aug. 6.
The World’s Largest Golf Outing is about having a great day of golf with friends, family and colleagues, while benefiting Fisher House Foundation, which is a non-profit best known for a network of comfort homes where military and veterans’ families can stay at no cost while a loved one is receiving treatment.
The event is an 18 hole four person team scramble format. The registration fee includes a $10 per player donation, 18 holes, golf cart, barbeque lunch, drink ticket, raffle entry, and prizes.
Fees are $300 for a foursome, $150 for twosome, and $75 for single. Registration time is 7 a.m. and golf begins at 9 a.m.

Rip City Cornhole
Bring your cornhole skills to the Rose Quarter in Portland on Aug. 19 for a chance to be crowned Rip City Cornhole Tournament champion.
The Portland Trail Blazers are hosting the first Rip City Cornhole Tournament from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. on the roof of the Garden Garage on the Rose Quarter campus.
Deadline to enter is Aug. 3.
Registration fee for teams of two is $125 and it includes two guaranteed cornhole games, two Rip City Cornhole Tournament T-shirts, and two lower bowl tickets to an early 2018-19 regular season Trail Blazers game. A third team member can be added for $65, or bring a spectator for $50 and those fees also include a lower bowl ticket to an early 2018-19 regular season Trail Blazers game. All participants and spectators must be 21 or older.
