Clark County Council chair candidate Christy Stanley announced Saturday that she is withdrawing from the race and endorsing Democratic candidate Eric Holt.

“I entered this race to raise awareness to the profound opportunities Clark county now has for new leadership; someone who can bring new business, jobs and balanced growth to our county,” Stanley, a Democrat, said in a news release. “After meeting and talking with party officials and with Mr. Holt, I’ve concluded that we share viewpoints on the issues and so, for this reason, I firmly believe he is the right choice for Clark County.”

Stanley owns several marijuana stores. She said that Holt understands urban and rural growth, can support disenfranchised people and “understands what lifting the (marijuana) moratorium could do for our county,” the news release said.

Holt said he appreciates the endorsement. There are three people remaining in the race: Holt, Republican Councilor Eileen Quiring and current council Chair Marc Boldt, an independent.
