The state Department of Commerce announced Thursday $39 million in statewide grants toward behavioral health care facilities, including about $4.2 million for Vancouver-based Lifeline Connections.

“The grants align with Gov. Jay Inslee’s five-year plan announced in May to modernize and transform the state’s mental health care systems by shifting away from large institutions to smaller, community-based facilities,” the agency said in a news release.

Lifeline Connections received $1,440,744 for its secure detox facility in Vancouver; $1,437,645 for another inpatient facility it’s trying to open in Vancouver; and $1,298,499 for its acute detox facility in Aberdeen.

The money is for construction and equipment costs associated with opening new facilities.
