Two women who live in Clark County were arrested Thursday on Interstate 5 after a California Highway Patrol K-9 unit discovered more than 80 pounds of methamphetamine and other drugs in their vehicle.

Enelinda Garcia Acevedo, 41, of Vancouver and Stephani Ann Torres, 36, of Washougal were arrested on suspicion of possession and transportation of controlled substances with intent to sell.

According to the highway patrol, the K-9 unit pulled over a vehicle on the freeway just south of Red Bluff, Calif. The officers found the meth, as well as 2 pounds of heroin and 200 oxycodone pills; they also seized $19,000.

Acevedo and Torres were booked into Tehama County Jail, but they were no longer in custody as of Tuesday.

The Tehama County District Attorney’s Office said it was in the process of filing charges against the women.
