Hazel Dell — Washington State University Extension’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Education hosted 150 fifth-graders from Fircrest and Ellsworth elementary schools for an event to learn about the local food system. The Farm-to-Fork event was held at the extension’s 78th Street Heritage Farm, where students learned about where their food comes from and how agriculture affects their everyday lives. They went over the importance of composting, met goats and planted cucumbers for the Clark County Food Bank plot.
