Riveridge — Ten members of the Fort Vancouver Lions Club spent time on June 2 cleaning up Gales Creek Camp for Kids.

The Lions spent three hours cleaning the boys and girls bunkhouses, repairing window shades, weeding the strawberry patch and spreading bark dust in order to get the camp ready for the 2018 season.

The camp is open to kids with Type 1 diabetes from all over the Pacific Northwest, where they combine traditional summer camp activities — such as swimming, arts and field games — with learning self-care habits to grow into healthy adults.

The Lions who helped clean up the camp were Eva Halter, Nancy Brown, Barbara Fey, Katie Zimmer, Rick Zimmer, Ralph Harding, Makena Kerr, Shelly Brown, Jen Leger and Len Leger.
