A Clark County Sheriff’s Office collision investigator said Monday a 58-year-old Vancouver resident who was sitting in the back seat of an older model Honda Accord when it crashed north of La Center on Saturday night was identified.

Robin Behrens suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries in the rollover crash and was taken to a hospital, Detective Todd Young said.

Behrens was not listed at PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center. A spokesperson with Legacy Health did not immediately return a call.

According to Young, 44-year-old William Hoppa of Battle Ground was driving. He was eastbound on Northeast 389th Street, a two-lane rural highway with a number of elevation shifts in several spots.

Hoppa was likely speeding as he climbed a hill and lost control of the Honda, causing it to roll over, Young said.

“It was just speed. Alcohol and drugs aren’t being considered a part of it,” Young said.

Hoppa walked away uninjured. A girl also riding in the car suffered minor injuries, according to the investigator. The girl was treated and released from an area hospital, he said.
