Clark County – The Washington State Department of Natural Resources is instituting burn restrictions for Clark County in response to rising fire danger. The department reports that more than 50 percent of wildfires recorded this year have been the result of debris burns escaping anywhere between one and 20 weeks after the initial burn.
As of today, burn permits are suspended until danger levels decrease in the fall. Smaller burns are also no longer allowed until the fall, meaning any debris burns are illegal until restrictions are lifted.
Recreational campfires may be allowed, but residents should confirm with the Department of Natural Resources before lighting a fire. Daily updates are available at dnr.wa.gov/burn-restrictions.
