Vancouver police are asking for the public’s help in identifying burglary suspects who they believe have been targeting Mexican restaurants along the Interstate 5 corridor.

Officers responded to a burglary at Muchas Gracias, 5207 E. Mill Plain Blvd., on Dec. 15, according to a Vancouver Police Department press release.

An investigation found the suspects had pried open a door and stole several thousand dollars in cash.

A similar burglary was reported at the same business in October 2017, police said.

Detectives compared other similar crimes and concluded that multiple incidents involving businesses along I-5 and in the Portland metropolitan area are likely part of a series of burglaries, police said.

“The targeted businesses appear to primarily be Mexican restaurants, with the thief breaking a window, entering through the drive-through window or prying doors to gain access to the building,” police said.

The police department has shared an image of one of the suspects captured by a surveillance camera.

Detectives said there are likely two people involved. They may be driving a silver sedan of an unknown make.

The image provided by police shows a man wearing a hooded sweatshirt with his face partially obscured by a baseball cap.

Anyone with information on the identity of either of the suspects, or with information about these burglaries, is asked to contact Vancouver Police Detective Zachary Ripp at 360-487-7391.
