Girls basketball: Mark Morris 53, Washougal 40

Mark Morris snapped Washougal’s school-record 12-game winning streak with a 53-40 victory over the Panthers in Monday’s 2A Greater St. Helens League girls basketball game in Longview.

The loss dropped the Panthers to 9-1 in league play (14-4 overall) while the win improves the second-place Monarchs to 8-2 in league (12-5 overall).

Beyonce Bea had 20 points, 10 rebounds and three blocked shots and her sister, freshman Skylar Bea, added 11 points, nine rebounds and four blocks.

Mark Morris’ 13-0 third quarter run gave the home team a 44-32 lead entering the final eight minutes. The Monarchs increased their lead to 51-36 inside 3 minutes left in the game.
