Monthly program brings kale lunch to schools

Five Corners — Washington State University Extension’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Education’s Harvest of the Month program was at Sunset Elementary School in January, and the special harvest ingredient was kale. At lunch, 345 students tried a Cool Kale Caesar Salad. “I would eat this every day if I could,” one student said in a release from the district. Kale salad will be featured on the lunch menu throughout the month at all elementary schools in Evergreen Public Schools.
