The Vancouver Rangers 12U and 10U hockey teams came away from Medford, Ore., as kings.
Both youth teams based out of Vancouver’s Mountain View Ice Arena won the King of the Ice Tournament, held Jan. 12-15.
For the 12U Rangers, it was a defense of their title from a year ago.
This tournament had five teams in the 12U division: Vancouver; Medford, Ore.; Bend, Ore.; Eugene, Ore., and Santa Rosa, Calif.
The Rangers were the only undefeated team in the round robin and had to beat the host Medford for the championship.
The only game Medford lost in the round robin was to Vancouver 7-1. The Rangers also beat Bend 7-2, Eugene 9-0 and Santa Rosa 5-2.
The championship game against Medford was closer but Vancouver still prevailed 3-2.
The 10U Junior Rangers victory was their second of the season, having also won a tournament over Thanksgiving weekend.
They went 4-1 in the round robin and won the championship by a 4-1 score.
