La Center’s Jack Hiller and Union’s Riley Miller were the top honorees at the Clark County Chapter of the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame’s annual scholar-athlete awards banquet Wednesday night at Hudson’s Bay High School.

Hiller took home the top prize for a lineman, earning a $3,500 scholarship. Miller was the top back, also earning a $3,500 scholarship.

This year, six was simply not enough for the local chapter, which honored eight local high school football players, instead of its usual six.

Mountain View’s Mitchell Delmage earned the No. 2 honor at back and $2,500 scholarship, while Columbia River’s Nathan Kunz picked up the third-place prize of a $1,500 scholarship.

Skyview’s Michael Lundgren earned the runner-up position at lineman and a $2,500 scholarship.

For third place among the line, a three-way tie occurred.

“That’s the first time we’ve had a three-way tie,” said Steve Milectich, vice president of the local chapter of the NFF. “We spent an hour-and-a-half trying to sort it out before deciding on the tie. But they were all so deserving.”

The third-place honor, each receiving a $500 scholarship, was shared by Camas’ Taylor Adams, Hockinson’s Kyle Brabec and Mountain View’s Zeek Fromel.
