Homeless people in Clark County will be both counted and assisted Jan. 25.
The annual Point-in-Time count “provides a one-day snapshot of what homelessness looks like in our community. Staff from partner agencies, groups and volunteers work with Council for the Homeless to divide the county into 10 zones,” according to a news release from the Council for the Homeless. The agency manages both the resource fair and census.
Throughout the morning volunteers will “engage with people they find who are living outside, in a tent, in a trailer with no running water, or in their car.”
That same day, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Project Homeless Connect will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 400 S. Andresen Road. People will be able to get a meal, housing information, dental care, vision exams and glasses, clothing, hygiene kits, haircuts and get help signing up for benefits and employment resources.
Last year, 276 people attended.
