Hough — The Washington Low Income Housing Alliance recognized Andy Silver, executive director of the Council for the Homeless, with a 2017 Advocacy Award for Champion of Homes.

“He spearheaded Vancouver’s successful housing levy campaign and drove the advocacy that passed Vancouver’s ordinance prohibiting source-of-income discrimination and increased notice for no-cause lease terminations,” a press release about the award read. “We appreciate Andy’s collaboration on state-level advocacy, his sharp political analysis and his relentless determination to garner support from Vancouver-area legislators.”

Silver has served as the council’s executive director for six years. The council aims to prevent and end homelessness in Clark County.
