Lane sweeps Clark basketball teams

A long scoring drought late in the second half by the Clark College men’s basketball team allowed Lane of Eugene to run away with a 93-79 NWAC South region victory Saturday at the O’Connell Sports Complex.

Clark (4-9, 0-2 South) led 76-74 with 6:03 to play after Courtney Anderson’s 3-pointer.

Then the well went dry.

Lane (10-4, 2-0) went on a 14-0 run, with the Penguins not scoring again until Kaden Ogles’ 3-pointer with 2:15 to play, making the score 88-79.

Anderson finished with 27 points on 11 of 19 shooting. He also had five rebounds, two assists and three steals.

Ogles had 18 points and 15 assists plus three steals, and Tyler Fernstrom had 16 points and seven rebounds.

WOMEN: LANE 98, AT CLARK 41 — The Penguins had three players in double figures, but are still looking for their first win of the season.

Mailia Aguigui, a Union High grad, and Stevenson High grad Ashley Sampson each had 11 points. Gianna Loville had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

For Lane, Camas High grad Emma Jones came off the bench to play 23 minutes, scoring six points and pulling down seven rebounds.
