Washington Street now a 2-way street north of West 15th Street

Traffic now flows in two directions on Washington Street north of West 15th Street.

The city of Vancouver recently finished pavement re-striping on part of Washington Street between West 15th Street and West 17th Street in downtown Vancouver. That stretch now accommodates two-way traffic rather than one-way traffic.

The change allows the city to provide more on-street diagonal parking along the east side of Washington.

Temporary signs are in place to warn drivers, pedestrians and cyclists.

The change was made in collaboration between the city and a private developer building a mixed-use project along Washington Street between West 17th Street and West McLoughlin Boulevard.

When the development is done, Washington Street will be a continuous two-way street from West 15th Street north to its terminus at West 21st Street.

Washington Street south of West 15th Street to West Third Street will remain a one-way, southbound route.
