Like to fix, fidget or tinker? Volunteers are needed for the upcoming Repair Cafe at the Clark County Habitat for Humanity Store.
Volunteers share “their expertise and knowledge to help diagnose and fix a variety of common household items” for free. Last year, volunteers had an 80 percent success rate in repairing things such as bicycles, clothes, tools, knives and jewelry, according to a news release from Columbia Springs. Repair Cafes are funded by a grant from the state Department of Ecology.
Training for new volunteers, which will cover safety, volunteer roles, liability and the purpose of Repair Cafes, is 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 1, at the store, located at 10811 S.E. Second St. The Repair Cafe is 6 to 8 p.m. the following Thursday, Feb. 8, also at the store. People who have questions or want to sign up for volunteer training can contact repair@columbiasprings.org or 360-882-0936, ext. 224.
