Girls basketball: Woodland 66, R.A. Long 65

Woodland had to survive two free-throw attempts with no time left to earn a 2A GSHL league win.

Payten Foster put the Beavers up 66-64 with her putback basket with 11 seconds to go. R.A. Long got off a shot that rimmed out, but then got the rebound and was fouled.

R.A. Long attempted two free throws with no time left, making the first and rimming out the second.

Woodland built a 20-point lead in the first half. But foul trouble for the Beavers helped R.A. Long close the gap.

Eastyn Reeves had 29 points for R.A. Long and Arianna Maryott had 10 of her 16 in the fourth quarter as R.A. Long took the lead 64-62 with a minute to play.

Foster, who finished with 26 points and seven rebounds, had a rebound basket with 25 second left to tie it 64-64 before adding another to give Woodland the lead with 11 seconds left.

Nicole Guthrie had 10 points and 10 rebounds for Woodland, McKenna Flanagan had eight points, four assists and four steals, and Kaily Christenen added eight points and five assists.
