Boys basketball: Battle Ground 62, Heritage 44

Kaden Perry had 24 points and 11 rebounds as the Tigers opened 4A Greater St. Helens League play with a home win.

Perry, a 6-foot-8 freshman, had a dunk and a 3-pointer to energize Battle Ground in the second quarter, in which the Tigers outscored Heritage 23-6 to take a 34-18 halftime lead.

“It turned into a fast-break contest,” Tigers coach Manny Melo said. “In the second quarter we found our rhythm and never looked back.”

Brendan Beall added 15 points and five rebounds for Battle Ground (8-5, 1-0).

Sanjeet Singh scored 15 points to lead Heritage (6-7, 0-1).
