A Vancouver man was injured Monday night when he was struck by a car while walking south in the northbound fast lane of Interstate 5, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The incident occurred at 10:51 p.m. near the Northeast 179th Street interchange when Patrick C. Briceno, 45, was struck by a 2013 Dodge Dart sedan driven by Kathren R. Rintoul, 26, of Longview, a WSP report said.

Briceno was transported to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center in Vancouver. The nature or severity of his injuries was not reported, and his name was not listed in hospital records Tuesday. The vehicle’s driver was not injured, the report said.

The report said Briceno would be charged with unlawful use of a limited access highway.
