It’s Read Across America Day on Friday, in recognition of the 114th birthday of Theodor Seuss Geisel — or as you know him, beloved children’s author Dr. Seuss.
Beaches Restaurant & Bar owner Mark Matthias and a team of volunteers are feeding green eggs and ham — inspired by the book of the same name — to first-graders and their parents at elementary schools in the Vancouver and Evergreen districts, as well as other county schools throughout the week.
Students at Marrion Elementary School, clad in multi-colored top hats styled after the Cat in the Hat’s iconic headgear, munched their verdant breakfast Tuesday before receiving free copies of Dr. Seuss books. This is the 23rd year of the annual tradition.
