Portland State sweeps Idaho State, 91-77

PORTLAND — Ryan Edwards scored 21 points on 9-of-11 shooting, a 3-pointer from Holland Woods helped spark a breakaway run and Portland State defeated Idaho State 91-77 on Saturday, completing a sweep of the Bengals.

Trailing by four at halftime, the Vikings (16-11, 6-8 Big Sky Conference) shot 63 percent after the break. With the game tied 55-55, a pair of Derek Brown free throws and a Woods 3-pointer ignited a 20-8 run over the next 5:44 to put the game away.

Deante Strickland added 18 points for PSU. Braxton Tucker scored 14, Brandon Hollins 13 and Woods finished with 12. The Vikings shot 33 of 69 from the field (48 percent), with 24 assists, and made seven of their 11 3-pointers after halftime. Woods had seven assists and Strickland eight.

Brandon Boyd led the Bengals (12-13, 7-7) with 17 points, Geno Luzcando and Jared Stutzman added 15 each. A Stutzman 3-pointer lifted Idaho State into a 55-55 tie with 11:35 to go.
