Meadow Homes — Congregants from the Unitarian Universalist Church of Vancouver worked with the local chapter of Project Linus to make blankets for children in need as part of a day of service on Martin Luther King Jr. Day. To make the quilts, participants used fabric markers to draw designs on white muslin squares, using inspiration from colorful fabric prints. The squares were ironed to set the ink, and congregants and Project Linus volunteers sewed the squares together into quilt tops. Project Linus volunteers will finish each quilt by adding backing, quilting and binding. Project Linus will distribute the quilts throughout Vancouver, where they provide blankets to children who are ill, traumatized or otherwise in need.
