Vancouver firefighters extinguished an apartment fire early Monday that displaced two people.

Multiple engines and trucks responded to the fire at 4714 N.E. 72nd Ave. about 1:52 a.m., according to dispatch logs.

Firefighter and paramedic Pete Adams said the fire was in one unit of a fourplex near Vancouver Mall. Firefighters were able to keep the fire from spreading to the other units, Adams said.

The fire, which originated in a bedroom, took about 19 minutes to put out, Adams said. Its cause is still under investigation.

Red Cross reported Monday than an adult and child were displaced by the fire. The nonprofit said it was helping both.
