Investigators believe a driver killed in a deadly wrong-way crash Sunday morning that killed two others was driving in the correct direction initially, then made a U-turn on the highway and into oncoming traffic.
Vancouver driver Aaron C. Dohman, 33, hit another vehicle head-on around 1:15 a.m., while heading west in the eastbound lanes of state Highway 14 early Sunday morning. The collision killed Dohman and the other driver, Edgar G. Acosta, 35, also of Vancouver.
The crash also killed Dohman’s passenger, Michelle M. Henriksbo, 47, of Vancouver.
Another passenger in Dohman’s car, Vancouver’s Christopher L. Kopf, 33, was listed in serious condition at PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center on Tuesday evening.
The Washington State Patrol said the day of the crash it appeared drugs or alcohol were a factor.
State Patrol spokesman Trooper Will Finn said detectives spoke to witnesses who said Dohman initially had his Nissan going the right direction, heading east on Highway 14, then they saw him make a U-turn sometime after getting on the highway from Columbia House Boulevard, before the crash.
Friends have set up an online fundraiser through GoFundMe.com, to help Acosta’s wife and three children, under “Edgar was taken far too soon,” or www.gofundme.com/edgar-was-taken-far-too-soon. Another GoFundMe fundraiser has been set up at www.gofundme.com/michelle-henriksbo-family-fund for Michelle Henriksbo’s three children and her mother and grandmother, who were in her care.
