Capital’s defense kept Hudson’s Bay from making a sustained run at the Cougars in a 3A bi-district loser-out game.
“They played phenomenal defense,” Bay coach Theo Mikaele said. “We couldn’t get much going against them. We average about 50 to 60 points a game. But they play really good defense and the got some big guys in the middle who control the paint.”
Capital led 31-22 at halftime. And every time the Eagles would close the gap, Capital would widen it out again.
Mikaele commended his players on not giving up on themselves after an 0-7 start to the league season.
“They just took it a game at a time and eventually put themselves in a position where they were a game away from playing for a spot at regionals,” he said. “I’m really proud of the effort and the fight they had had these last couple of weeks.”
Quadrese Teague led Bay with 13 points.
