The American Red Cross helped two Vancouver residents early Monday morning following a fire near the Walnut Grove area.

Red Cross went to the scene of the fire, the 4700 block of 72nd Avenue, about 4 a.m., according to a press release from the nonprofit’s Cascades Region office. The home is near the Vancouver Mall.

The single-family home fire affected an adult and a child.

Red Cross said it has helped the victims with immediate basic needs like temporary housing, clothing and food.
