Golden Corral, the North Carolina-based chain of buffet restaurants, is opening its first Clark County location at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at 11801 N.E. Fourth Plain Blvd. The restaurant seats 400 and definitely doesn’t require reservations.
The state health department is alleging unprofessional conduct by the doctor who administered anesthesia to a 4-year-old Vancouver boy who died after a dental procedure in March.
Dr. Chester C. Hu — a licensed physician and surgeon who is board certified in anesthesiology — administered anesthesia to Mykel Wayne Peterson during a March 10 visit to Must Love Kids Pediatric Dentistry. Hu, therefore, was responsible for Mykel’s recovery, according to charging documents by the health department’s Medical Quality Assurance Commission.
A pedestrian was struck and killed by a small SUV on Northeast Highway 99 in Hazel Dell on Thursday morning, according to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.
The victim, 42-year-old Dylan J. Digiulio, was pronounced dead at the scene.
John Bishop, who for nearly two decades led Vancouver’s Living Hope Church, pleaded guilty to a federal drug charge Thursday for trying to smuggle more than 280 pounds of marijuana into the country from Mexico.
Bishop’s plea agreement was not available Thursday evening. However, Kelly Thornton, director of media relations with the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of California, confirmed that Bishop pleaded guilty to unlawful importation of a controlled substance-marijuana, a felony.
No students were injured after a bus leaving Hudson’s Bay High School drove partway down an embankment following a crash Monday afternoon.
A Vancouver Public Schools bus with 14 students on board was involved in a collision at Fruit Valley Road and Northwest 61st Street about 2:35 p.m., according to a district spokeswoman. Students were heading home after school. No one was injured in the crash.
