Kaden Ogles scored 20 points to lead four Penguins starters in double figures as the Clark College men’s basketball team beat NWAC No. 7-ranked Linn-Benton 82-73 on Saturday at the O’Connell Sports Complex.

LaTrell Johnson had 19 points, Tyler Fernstrom had 17 points, and Isaac Houck had 12 points and nine rebounds for the Penguins, who ended a four-game losing streak.

Ogles also had six rebounds and six assists for Clark (7-15, 3-8 NWAC South).

Clark jumped out to a 15-3 lead in the first half, but LBCC (16-8, 6-5) eventually pulled even at 21-21 and went up by 26-24. It stayed close until the final minutes of the half when Clark pulled away for a 38-32 halftime lead.

A tight start to the second half saw the lead change six times. LBCC had its last advantage at 65-63, and Johnson’s 3-pointer with 5:10 to play put Clark in front for good.

The game did remain close until the final 1:16 when the Penguins made their final eight free throw attempts to ice it.

Clark was 21 of 26 from the free-throw line in the game and outrebounded LBCC 41-25.

WOMEN: Linn-Benton 80, at Clark 57 — Mailia Aguigui and Ashley Sampson each scored 14 points for the Penguins (1-20, 1-9) in the loss.
