The Clark County Commission on Aging’s speaker series starts again this month. This year’s focus “will educate and raise awareness about future transportation and mobility challenges and solutions that could help Clark County’s older residents age in their homes and neighborhoods for as long as possible,” according to a news release.
Each month an expert will talk about a different topic:
• Feb. 20: Transportation Issues for Aging in Place.
• March 20: No regular meeting.
• April 17: Alternatives to Driving — Part I.
• May 15: Alternatives to Driving — Part 2.
• June 19: No regular meeting; commission retreat.
• July 17: Senior Driving and Safety.
• Aug. 21: Planning for our transportation and mobility needs.
• Sept. 18: Community Design.
• Oct. 16: Vehicle Design and Intelligent Transportation Systems.
• Nov. 13: Transportation of the Future.
Meetings are 4:30 p.m. on the third Tuesday of every month in the sixth-floor hearing room of the Public Service Center at 1300 Franklin St. They can also be viewed on CVTV Channel 23 and online at cvtv.org. Alan DeLaTorre, research associate at Portland State University’s Institute on Aging, will be the first speaker.
