Emma Dietel hit the go-ahead 3-pointer in overtime.

Then Grace Russell sunk key free throws to seal Hockinson’s win over R.A. Long.

With nine seconds left, Freshman Lillie Mueller subbed in for the Hawks last play. Mueller caught the ball off a never-before-used inbounds play and drilled the tying basket that ended up forcing overtime.

“This is a gritty group,” Hockinson coach Damon Roche said. “Cardiac kids, man.”

Shigeno, who has gone from the end of the bench to a key rotation player over the past month, scored 11 points and grabbed six rebounds for the Hawks.

“She’s just in everybody’s business,” Roche said. “She was the X-factor.”

Hockinson plays Mark Morris on Wednesday. The winner gets second place in the 2A GSHL and secures home court advantage to open the playoffs hosting W.F. West; loser travels to Black Hills.
