Vancouver boxer Victor Morales Jr. improved to 8-0 in January via fifth round technical knockout over Edgar Cantu (7-3-2) in their featherweight bout at a Top Rank show at the Tachi Palace in Lemoore, Calif.
Morales is a graduate of Union High school. Cantu (7-3-2) is the Texas state featherweight champion.
Top Rank is the largest promotional company in the world for boxing.
“Victor’s dream is to be a World Champion and he already trains like one, boxing is his full time job,” father Victor Morales Sr. wrote in an e-mail.
According to his father, Morales Jr. trains in west Portland and moves training camp to Los Angeles closer to bouts for sparring sessions at gyms like the Wild Card, Legends and Robert Garcia gym.
Victor Jr.’s next fight will be March 3 at Medford., Ore.
Youth indoor soccer league sign-ups
A youth recreational indoor soccer league is available for ages 4-6 at the Camas Community Center ballroom.
The league is set up to build soccer and social skills while being in a fun, noncompetitive league.
Any parent who coaches gets a free registration for their child. Reversible jerseys will be loaned out to each player, to be returned after the last game.
A Kinder Cup League for Kindergartners only, costs $55 (in-city) or $65 (out-of-city) or $364 for a team of eight. It plays on Sundays, March 4 through April 22.
A Pee Wee League for ages 4-5 is $45 (in-city) or $55 (out-of-city) or $210 for a team of six. It also plays on Sundays, March 4 through April 22.
Sign-up deadline for either league is Thursday.
