A driver struck a Washington state trooper’s SUV Thursday morning after the trooper had pulled over behind a disabled vehicle on Interstate 205, according to the Washington State Patrol.

State trooper Jeffrey Heath, 46, had stopped behind a disabled vehicle partially blocking the left lane of Interstate 205 southbound, near the Vancouver city limits, around 11:20 a.m.

Heath’s vehicle’s emergency lights were on, according to the state patrol.

Korena N. Wyatt, 22, of Vancouver was heading south on the interstate when she didn’t yield, the state patrol said, striking Heath’s Chevy Tahoe in the rear.

Wyatt was unhurt. Heath was brought to Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center. The state patrol said he was checked out as a precaution and released.

The state patrol said the crash was under investigation.
