Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteer Connections provides opportunities through the Human Services Council. For information on the following, call 360-735-3690.

City of Vancouver Parks and Recreation is hosting a Martin Luther King Day event at the Water Resources Education Center from 9:30 a.m. until noon Jan. 21. Volunteers can help pull weeds, pick up litter, and beautify the park. Tools, snacks, and water provided; dress for the weather. Youths under 18 must have a signed consent form. A similar event will take place Jan. 19 from 10 a.m. to noon at LeRoy Haagen Park.

City of Vancouver Parks and Recreation/Urban Forestry is hosting a work party from 10 a.m. until noon on Jan. 21 at Carter Park, where volunteers will help plant 40 trees along West 33rd Street. Training, cools, snacks and water provided. Those under 18 need a signed consent form.

Clark County Public Utilities Stream Team invites volunteers to help pot native tree saplings and remove invasive plants for the Day of Service event, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 21. Activities will take place within an outdoor tent. Tools, training, and snacks provided.

Clark County Public Works Park Volunteer Program seeks volunteers to plant native greenery and remove invasive plants from 9 a.m. to noon Jan. 19 at Whipple Creek Park in Ridgefield. Dress for the weather.

Clearwater Springs Assisted Living is looking for people to set up bunco tables, assist the players, and sit in on a game when needed. Volunteers should be familiar with bunco and enjoy interacting with the residents.

Friends of the Carpenter is looking for volunteers to help pick up food donations from local coffee shops three days per week. Volunteers must drive their own vehicles. Help is also needed in the office, including working on the newsletter and other mailings.

Hospice Southwest is offering trained volunteer opportunities to those interested in providing in-home respite care, driving patients to appointments, honoring veterans, making routine phone calls, office duties, and making quilts for Ray Hickey Hospice House patients. Training varies from 13-20 hours.

Human Services Council seeks friendly front desk volunteers with skills in multi-tasking to assist with clerical duties such as filing, phone calls, and data entry.
