A developer has submitted preliminary plans for the Brooke Overlook Apartments, a 46-unit complex in Vancouver’s Landover-Sharmel neighborhood, just east of Interstate 205. The development will be at the site of the Moose Lodge at 11018 N.E. 18th St., which would be removed.

The proposed complex would consist of four three-story buildings, each with 10 or 12 apartment units. Each unit would include two bedrooms and two bathrooms, along with a private outdoor patio or deck. All of the ground-floor units will be either Type A or Type B adaptable, meaning that they meet minimum building standards that would allow them to be adapted into fully accessible units in the future.

The four buildings would surround a central parking lot area. The Moose Lodge’s parking lot would be removed along with the building, although the existing driveway and sidewalk approaches from 18th Street would be retained and used as the primary access point for the new development.

The pre-application conference request was submitted by architect Kevin Cooley on behalf of Brook Overlook LLC, which owns the property. A similarly sized apartment complex was previously proposed for the site in 2017 with a different developer attached to the project.

Construction of the apartments is planned to begin in the summer, with completion in spring 2020. A pre-application conference with the city is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Jan. 10.
