Girls basketball: Union 66, Wilson 58

Marina Morningstar scored 19 points including some key baskets late in the game as the Titans handed visiting Wilson of Tacoma its first loss of the season.

“We got off to a great start and executed the offense well,” Union coach Gary Mills said.

Union (6-3) was ahead by as much as 22 points in the third quarter when Wilson (6-1) mounted a comeback to get within six points with about three minutes to play.

“Morningstar made some timely baskets to halt their momentum,” Mills said. “They were undefeated for a reason. They were very fast and played great defense in the second half.”

Also for Union, Mackenzie Lewis had 14 points, Toryi Midland 13, and Alexis Raymore had 10.

Union takes a break before taking part in the Evergreen Tournament on Dec. 28-29.
