C-Tran plans free rides, longer hours Dec. 31

C-Tran will offer free rides, and keep busses running longer, on New Year’s Eve to help riders get to and from their New Year revels safely.

All C-Tran routes will be free starting at 6 p.m. Dec. 31, and will stay free until the end of the service schedule.

Several routes will keep running into the early hours of Jan. 1.

Routes 37, 60, 71 and The Vine will run until about 2 a.m.

Routes 164 and 199 will provide additional trips from downtown Portland to the Fisher’s Landing Transit Center and 99th Street Transit Center, respectively, between roughly 10 p.m. to 2 a.m.

Impaired driving causes thousands of deaths annually, many of them during the holidays, and mass transit, C-Tran reminded would-be riders, is a safe transportation alternative when ringing in the new year.

Also, in Portland, TriMet and the Portland Streetcar will provided free service after 8 p.m. on New Year’s Eve, and MAX lines will operate until approximately 3 a.m.

Full C-Tran New Year’s Eve schedules are available at www.c-tran.com/newyears.

Routes without extended hours will operate on their regular schedules.
