Boys basketball: Evergreen 59, Prairie 54

Carter Monda had 14 points, Tyler Ricketts added 10 and the Plainsmen opened 3A Greater St. Helens League play with a win over the defending co-champions.

In a close game throughout, Evergreen (4-3) made shots when it needed to down the stretch. Monda had a 3-pointer and two crucial free throws. Mario Herring also hit two big free throws late.

“They just finished the game better than we did,” Prairie coach Kyle Brooks said. “We struggled executing at the end of the game.”

Kam Osborn scored 18 points and Aidan Fraly added 13 for Prairie (2-5).
