Veterans and active service members will have the opportunity to choose from more than 2,400 articles of business clothing and 750 ties at the annual Suits for Soldiers event Saturday.
The event is hosted by the Farmers Insurance district office in Vancouver, which first debuted the program in 2016. The office collected new and used articles of clothing — suits, blazers, slacks, pants, work dresses and skirts, ties, button-up shirts and dress shoes — through November.
This year’s Suits for Soldiers event will take place at 1-800-WaterDamage to accommodate the volume of donations. Veterans and active service members at the event can also get a free haircut provided by The Barbers, a locally owned haircutting chain.
“Attendees do not have to show proof of service,” said event organizer Ann Valentine. “We will operate off the honor system.”
Doors will open at 10 a.m. and close at 3 p.m. on Dec. 15 at 1-800-WaterDamage, 1200 N.E. 112th Ave., Vancouver.
