Lake Shore — Symphony Koss was one of 106 musicians selected from around the country for the sixth annual National Youth Orchestra of United States earlier this year. Koss, a diploma candidate in Columbia River High School’s International Baccalaureate program, and the other musicians spent three weeks in New York training with professional orchestra musicians. They then played Carnegie Hall and went on a 17-day tour to Asia. They performed in Taipei, Beijing, Shanghai, Seoul and Daejeon, South Korea. While in Beijing, the musicians performed for U.S. Ambassador to China Terry Branstad while visiting the American Embassy.
