A Hockinson High School student was arrested Monday after allegedly making threats against the school and students.

Clark County sheriff’s deputies and a school resource officer arrested the 14-year-old and booked them into the Clark County Juvenile Justice Center on suspicion of making threats to bomb or injure property and felony harassment.

The district sent a letter home to families Monday signed by Colleen Anders, director of teaching and learning, which said the district learned of the potential threat Monday morning.

“Students reported the situation to their families, who contacted the school district (Monday) morning,” the letter said. “Immediately on hearing the alleged threat, the school district contacted the Clark County Sheriff’s Office, which sent officers out to prevent the student from going to school and to be present at Hockinson High School.”

The sheriff’s office did not detail the incident or identify the teenager in a Monday afternoon news release. School went on as usual Monday.

The alleged threats were brought to the attention of authorities as a direct result of students speaking up, the sheriff’s office said.

“The sheriff’s office would like to remind everyone if you see or hear something say something,” the news release states.
