Despite a few bouts of rain, November was drier than average. Total rainfall in Vancouver was 2.37 inches, 3.54 inches below average.

Seattle had over twice as much rain with 5.42 inches, but still 1.15 inches below average. Vancouver’s average mean temperature was 46.6 degrees, about average. Meanwhile, Seattle with twice the rain and more cloudiness was 48.6 degrees, 3 degrees above average. Vancouver had temperature extremes from a high of 67 degrees to a low of 27. The Emerald City reached 62 degrees but still no freeze with a low of 34 degrees.

OK, we got all the statistics out of the way and I’ll share how much rain your friends and neighbors had soon.

December will get off with another dry period but temperatures won’t be in the 60s or 50s. Sound wintry? Saturday was the official start of the meteorological winter for us so we are now in winter mode here on the Weather Eye column.

Expect highs to run in the low 40s all week and increasing east winds Monday. And as you know, if you live in a wind-sheltered location, you will be cold in the 20s and upper teens in some areas such as Battle Ground. In the wind-exposed locations, it will feel bitter cold yet the thermometer overnight will be in the 30s with maybe no subfreezing temperatures.
