PORTLAND — KinderCare, which provides child care to more than 170,000 kids throughout the nation, is set to expand after the acquisition of another large-scale provider, Rainbow Child Care Center, the Portland-based company announced Monday.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but KinderCare CEO Tom Wyatt said the two companies were a perfect match.

With more than 1,300 facilities in 40 states, KinderCare is the largest provider of child care in the nation, and the company employs more than 500 people at its corporate headquarters in Portland.
