Kara Winger finished her Diamond League track and field season on a high note Thursday with a third-place finish in the women’s javelin in the Diamond League Finals at Zurich.

The Skyview High School grad reached a season-best mark of 64.75 meters (212 feet) on her third of six throws. Tatsiana Khaladovich of Belarus won the Zurich Weltklasse with a throw of 66.99 meters, and Liu Shiying of China was second at 66.00.

Winger posted on Twitter after the meet: “All 6 throws for me tonight went beyond 60m, I felt strong and focused, and had my friend and coach Dana in the stands. Javelin is SO fun again. More to come.”

This was Winger’s first podium finish of the five Diamond League meets to have women’s javelin this season.

Winger won her eighth United States Track and Field Outdoor national title in June at Des Moines, Iowa, with a throw of 62.88 meters.
